Nancy Zieg Interior Design can help you with home decorating and remodeling projects—large and small—in the Portland Metro area.
I have a BA in Art and a degree in Interior Design from the University of Florida School of Architecture. I have been a professional interior designer for more than 30 years.
I began my career in Houston, Texas, where I had a chance to participate in the 1995 “Back To Basics” Home Show. This home was designed to take advantage of the natural thermal efficiency of concrete blocks.
While in Houston, I also created stage sets for “Unique Lives and Experiences” of famous women, a national touring program featuring speakers including Joan Rivers, Shirley McLaine, Lily Tomlin, Barbara Bush, Ann Richards, Jane Goodall, Maya Angelou and more. I have lived in Portland, Oregon since 2000.
Since as far back as I can remember, I would take pictures of rooms out of magazines and catalogs and draw floor plans. The art history classes I took in college and my travels, especially to Europe, nourished my love of art and architecture. I have a profound interest in cultures and history and I love to weave the elements of world art into my designs.
I love France and the Country French look, and Italy with its warm colors, terracotta, golds, and the delicate color washes you see. I have a new appreciation for the Moroccan look in Spain and I have incorporated their colorful tile mosaics in several of my designs.
My style could best be described as eclectic. I like to use my client's possessions in a creative way—mixing clean lines with frou-frou, modern with “collected” pieces, old with new and a bit of whimsy.
I have been published a number of times, and I competed in the HGTV Designer’s Challenge in 2005. I was privileged to serve as President of the American Society of Interior Designers, Oregon Chapter from 2004-2005 and I am still an active ASID member. I am also an active member of Oregon Executives Association, where I serve on the Board of Directors.
If you want an "HGTV-style" instant home makeover, my partner and I in Spacelift can come out and spend a couple of hours revitalizing your space using your existing furniture and accessories.
My other interests are reading, gardening and painting with oils. I learned painting from a Efim Frumin, a Russian master who teaches in the 18th Century tradition. He paints in the style of Rembrandt. I paint in the impressionist style of Monet or Renoir. I have sold 45 pieces in the past and still paint, but not as often as I would like!
I have recently added the capability of taking your payments by credit card to make it easier for you to fit my services into your budget!

INTERIOR DESIGN

“We both work long hours and barely have time to cook dinner, let alone furnish and decorate our house. We have been working with Nancy for four years now on various projects and cannot compliment her enough on her professionalism and excellent follow-through.
“We would sit down with Nancy to discuss the purpose and use of a room, she would recommend pieces of furniture and go back to shop for us. She has exceptional taste and didn't push her "style" on us but instead recommended wonderful pieces that we wouldn't have tried.
“She has been an integral part of our decision-making processes from helping us choose all of our interieor paint colors, rearranging a room's existing furniture, and acquiring new pieces to furnish our office, dining room, and living room. We have worked together to select complementary pieces of art and other accessries too. We highly, highly recommend Nancy!
